After two years HOLY WAVE dropped their third full-length album Adult Fear on March 30th via Reverb Appreciation Society. Formed 2008 in El Paso, TX, they right away moved to Austin, a city with a more musically friendly environment. Especially their style of music makes Austin their new chosen hometown as they are regular guests at the annual Austin Psych Fest or play at the Levitation Festival. Holy Wave are Kyle Hager, Dustin Zozaya, Julian Ruiz, Joey Cook and Ryan Fuson. Musically labeled as psychedelia, their sound goes from garage to chillwave and lo-fi melodic psychpop. The new album continues to surf on dreamy, psyched-out washes of sound, distorted guitars, synths and echoing vocals. But exploring darker and tinier tones than 2016's warm Freaks of Nurture made them change things up a little, attributed to the work with the new producer Dillon Fernandez of the befriended local garage-rock band Leather Girls. HOLY WAVE's third impressive work in a row has the same hooky and catchy songs that creates a dreamlike status. We're happy to have them back on stage as well as to meet them again because besides their music these guys are very sympathic fellows. They well know how to use their pedals, we well know how to use the fog machine.
